| So its mid January, and I'm in a bit of a pensive mood, to say the
least. I wouldn't wan't to say "grumpy" but more than likely i
am. i've found that life changes a lot from mere quarter to
quarter, and that can be a good thing. there are always changes going
on in my life, but i was pretty content with the way my life was fall
quarter...and this one has brought about some definite changes. not to
say they're all bad, most are very very good, but change is tiresome. i
feel i'm wallowing in the mucky muck, but the mucky muck is much more
beautiful than it ever has been before.
hard to focus on the present when its the future that i'm worried about/hoping/striving toward.
having a good time with the new things in my life, tho i'm worried that
i'll hurt people if its not the life-altering thing that it was for
them.
i try not to harbor grudges b/c all they do is bring you down, but
sometimes i think i was in too far to turn around. i'm still not very
good at doing what i'm told. am i too cynical? perhaps.
annoyed that i can't always be with the people i want to be b/c some
people have to make life miserable and uncomfortable for others in
their own selfishness. really getting sick of it, fo sho.
but....things with that one guy get more awesome all the time. saying
that he's changed my life is a wee bit dramatic but he has been one
hell of a positive influence over the last year.
also...i have a new baby cousin! her name is Grace Ellen Trainer...how pretty. 
i've still avoided all sickness this year after the band camp
gastrointeritis fiasco, and that in itself is a miracle.
hurrah!
i think the blahness is just a result of the way i get every winter, no
matter how well things are going. becuase don't get me wrong, things
are going great! its a lot of fun getting to know new people, and
getting to know your old friends in completely new ways. having
goals and such...yes. bonding and growing closer with others on so many
levels. and that was not a complete sentence, but oh well.
if there was a mood of the moment for me, i'd have to say it was
disillusioned. not with the system or the people or the life i lead,
its just the way i am right now.

| Just a quick update, and a bit of an apology...
I've been pretty anti-social in the past few days, not returning phone
calls and not particpating in parties even when they're in my living
room. working 7 days a week is a good excuse for that, in part. but on
wednesday i found out that my dad's cancer has spread, and that's just
kind of taken the wind out of my sails a bit. i'm ok, i'd just
rather sleep or write or read alone than hang out b/c i'm not too
cheerful. but i really am doing allright, just less  then usual. he's ok too, i hope. he's doing ok so far.
so that's that. life is life...had fun last night, and the zoo was easy
today. going to my best bud adam's birthday party tonight, then more
work tomorrow. life keeps on tickin'.

| Man, I guess i'm just not that into updating this anymore. that's unforunate since my life is so eventful. lol.
in the last month, i have achieved the first and foremost of my
lifelong dreams! and gone to utah to dig for fossils. it was
amazing...i can't describe it without being verbose. but mountains
every which way you looked, and desert, and the biggest damned
sky...plus tarantualas, scorpions, and rattlers oh my! made new friends
and had many many laughs. i miss it. and now i'm questioning
everything i've ever wanted to do...you know what they say.
depending on your definition, its been one year since i started
cavorting around with that one guy, which is crazy. hung out w/his
family this weekend, egads! and had many adventures, as we usually do.
he makes me perhaps more content than i really remember ever being. so
hurrah for that!
my favorite month is already over, just like that! taking ten days off
to go to utah will make a month go by, i suppose. but its ok, b/c my
second favorite is coming up if we can make it through the cold
november rain...
working two jobs, one in the admissions office here at UC and then
saturday i start working at the zoo! tres...or muy...damned
spanish...muy excited about that, yay aminals.
how fucking awesome is it that the bengals are 6-2?!?!?! 
biggest stressor in my life, as usual, is time and money. this time its
manifesting in the form of GRAD SCHOOL!! or whatever i want to do after
i graduate. and what i want to do this summer, which has always
been to run off somewhere on a dig or a study or something...now I'm
thinking of going into Museum Studies for my master's degree.
most important to that is that i learn to spell "museum" b/c i fook it
up every time.
